Ye Olde News

Breakdown - 14/09/2000

You may have noticed that over the last month or so I haven’t done anything to the page.  There are several reasons for this firstly ... not much has actually been happening, secondly I’ve just started a new job and have been a bit busy recently aswell as a few dozen other things that I wont bother to go into.  But I thought it’s about time that I update you all, especially with the recent revelations concerning Cerys.  So here it goes ...

It was revealed recently that Cerys suffered a “bit of a breakdown” late last year, and this was the main reason for the cancellation of the UK Arena gigs and the US Promo tour.  Although this news may be considered quite shocking, by some, I think it is quite justifiable considering Cerys’ ‘huge’ profile at the end of last year.  It also goes someway to explaining how-come things on the Catatonia front have been quiet recently.  Cerys’ frankness about her breakdown comes on the eve of the release of the new Catatonia Biography and the Catatonia gig to promote it.  My best wishes go to Cerys and hope that she manages to cope well with Catatonia’s ‘rebirth’ (of sorts) ... Good Luck!

Barry Cawley - 31/07/2000

Yesterday (Sunday 30/07/2000) Catatonia’s long serving roadie and well loved friend was tragically killed in a cycling accident near Betwys-Y-Coed in North Wales.  Barry had previously helped found ‘Y Cyrff’ with Mark and Paul.  After the formation of Catatonia Barry became their roadie.  I would like to offer my most heartfelt condolences to Barry’s family and friends and to Cerys, Mark, Paul, Aled, Owen and everyone else invloved with the band who are said to be heartbroken by the news.

Server Outtage - 25/07/2000

You may have noticed that over the last few days there have been a few server problems so you might not have been able to view the page.  This was a failure of both my webspace server and the nice peope at seem who manage my url.  Other than that check out the brand-spanking-new guestbook.

No Bacharach!? - 02/07/2000

Now you may or may no know that Cerys apparently didn’t actually feature in the tribute concert on friday night.  I  have no idea why, she was listed in the programme but - by reports - didn’t come onstage.  I’ll let you know if - and when - I find out anything.

Cerys at Glasto - 26/06/2000

Although Cat aren’t at Glastonbury this year Cerys is.  She made a surprise appearance on the pyramid stage with the Pet Shop Boys (on June 24th) singing a duet with Neil Tennant of ‘What Have I Done to Desserve This?’ which originally recorded with the late Dusty Springfield.  Cerys was also apparently in a BBC documentary about Mike Eavis that was showed sometime at the weekend during the BBC’s Glastonbury coverage, unfortunately I missed it.

Never Mind the ... Burt Bacharach? - 10/06/2000

You may have noticed that Cerys was on ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ last night ... whoops on my part.  Also Cerys is rumoured to be appearing at the Burt Bacharach and Hal David charity tribute gala at the London Royal Albert Hall on June 30th.

Now if you’ll excuse me ... it’s my 20th tommorow so I’m going off to get royally p****d.

Tom Jones ... Again and Not Top 100 - 31/05/2000

The infamous ‘An Audience With Tom Jones’ (featuring Cerys and Tom dueting on ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ and ‘What’s New Pussy Cat’) is being repeated on Saturday at 9.50pm on ITV.  Also Cerys didn’t make FHM’s top 100 this year, perhaps next year...

Monkey Business - 20/05/2000

Cerys is in the June issue of Interview magazine, featuring a short interview and some photo’s of  Cerys with a little baby monkey ... nawwww, sweet.  Pictures in the Gallery coutesy of Brian Wallace ... Cerys World’s newly titled ‘US Correspondant’.

No Glasto!!! - 05/05/2000

Catatonia have said that they won’t be doing Glasto this year, despite last year saying they would.  Infact they’ve pretty much ruled out any UK appearances this year.  Isn’t the best step after cancelling their UK arena tour last year.  They’ve anounced another US onslaught this time with Aled and without his appendix.  I understand that the US market is a valuable market to crack but they shouldn’t forget their UK fanbase or they may just wonder off.

Happy Birthday - 11/04/2000

It’s Cerys’ birthday today - her 31st (she doesn’t look it).  I’d just like to join everyone in wishing her all the best.

FHM Poll ... Again - 07/04/2000

It’s that time of the year again.  FHM’s annual ‘Sexiest Woman in the World’ Poll.  So why not pop by to their page and vote for Cerys, but remember, only vote once!  Maybe we can up her rating from 36th (last year) to something a little higher.

Poor Aled - 07/04/2000

It seems that Aled’s broken his little finger nail (or something), so the band has postponed most of it’s state-side appearances for the time being.  Lets hope that he recovers (pretty quick) and they can carry on in their conquest of the US.

The Details - 25/03/2000

Cerys is to appear on the April 2000 issue of the US Details magazine.  With a small photo spread and a lengthy article, on Cerys and Catatonia and the states.  She’s dubbed as “The next Courtney Love ... only BETTER” - is that good?

Dis-Engaged - 25/03/2000

Cerys has broken off her short engagement with Anthony Glenn.  She did it over the phone on Valentine’s day while she was in the states.  Her and Anthony are still together just not engaged.

More US - 21/03/2000

Aswell as Details (which I still haven’t found out which issue she’ll be in), Cerys will be in (and maybe on?) Billboard, a weekly music magazine in the States.  To top that she’s also scheduled to appear on the ‘Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ on April 3rd.  I’m not sure if this is a band apperance - or an interview - or both yet.  I may be able to get mpeg movies of the Jay Leno show for all us poor brits who can’t see it, no promises yet - but I’m looking into it.

US : Equally Cursed and Blessed - 13/03/2000

The US version of Equally Cursed and Blessed will be released on the 28th of this month.  The album will include all tracks from the UK ECaB aswell 4 tracks from International Velvet including Road Rage and Mulder and Scully.  www.atlantic-records.com are running an interview with Cerys, it’s very long and streaming (i.e. I haven’t figured out how to download it yet), but it’s worth a look.  ‘An Audience with Tom Jones’ has been released on video, previously shown on ITV.  It includes duets with Cerys on ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ and ‘What’s New Pussy Cat?’, r.r.p. £12.99.

On another note, I’m looking for someone in the US who’d be willing to scan and transcribe the article from Cerys’ upcoming cover on Details.  Or alternatively someone who’d be willing to donate a copy of the magazine to Cerys World.  Also anyone in the US who would be willing to send information on US happenings, transcriptions, appearances, interviews, pictures, etc...  Thankyou.

Well, Hush My Mouth! - 04/03/2000

For a band that’s not supposed to be doing much, they seem to be doing quite a lot!  After their small tour of America (very small), Cerys has been making a few appearances on the other side of the pond.  She was apparently at the Grammies (no pics sorry) and she’s appearing on the cover of a well known US magazine, Details, and if things go well the band will be going over again in April to do some US TV promo slots.  Cerys also presented an award (sans underwear) to Steps at the Brit awards last night, where Tom Jones also won ‘Best British Male’, and I’ve heard that Cerys, Kelly (Phonics) and Tom and the guys were still out ‘partying’ in the early hours of this morning (was there any doubt?).

US - 19/02/2000

Catatonia did their 2 US gigs at the end of last month, some pics from those gigs are in the gallery.  More to follow next update ... possibly.  That’s pretty much it for this update.

The Comming Year - 25/01/2000

Things, this year, look as if they’re going to be quite quiet for Catatonia.  And so it looks as if it might be for Cerys too.  With the exception of her rumoured marriage.  As a result for the next few months it’s unlikely that I will be regularly updating the page.  Instead I’m going to make less frequent, but larger updates, and if there’s any big news I’ll be sure to put it up as soon as I can.  I would also like to appeal to all the visitors out there to keep your eyes open for Cerys in magazines, etc. and let me know if you see anything or send it in.

www.CERYSWOLD.co.uk - 25/01/2000

Cerys World now has it’s own easy to remember URL - www.cerysworld.co.uk.  So please redirect all your bookmarks and links to the new address, thankyou.

Number 1 - 15/01/2000

In this weeks ‘Melody Maker’ Cerys has been voted ‘Woman of the Year’ ‘99 and ‘Sexiest Woman’ ‘99.  How cool can you get? I love Melody Maker, go out and buy ... there are a lot of Catatonia mentions throughout.

Cerys to Marry!?!?! - 07/01/2000

That’s right, if rumours are true our Cerys is thinking of settling down with boyfriend Anthony Glenn sometime this year.  Cerys’ management are refusing to comment on the engagement but are confirming Cerys’ relationship with Anthony, the guitarist in the band  ‘The Mescaleros’.  Anthony is famously known for streaking at Glasto ‘95 during Elastica’s performance.

Happy Millenium - 05/01/2000

I hope you all had a very enjoyable time.  I know I did, I think I’ve just about recovered.  So here comes the new Year/Decade/Century/Millennium and what will it bring?  Who knows?  But if it’s got something to do with Cerys then one of your best places to look is right here <cheesey grin>.

Merry Christmas - 23/12/99

Merry Christmas, or as we say here in sunny Brum “eyeope yool ‘ave a vury murry krismus”.  I’m going to be a bit preoccupied over the festive season so I probably wont be able to do much in the way of updating the page.  But I’ll be back next year to give Cerys World a good seeing too.  Enjoy the next few weeks, and remember - ‘don’t drink and drive’.

Whoops! - 19/12/99

My fault, BiCO didn’t get to number 2 (well it did sort of).  It got to number 17, I was looking at the Indie charts, on which BiCO came second.  Ah, well, there you go.

Get Ready For a Downfall Cliff - 14/12/99

“Baby It’s Cold Outside” entered the charts at number 2.  Just short of Cliff Richard’s questionable “Millennium Prayer”.  Lets just hope the old fart runs out of  steam before Christmas. Although the Christmas number 1 is probably going to be taken by the Charity “It’s only Rock & Roll” single (which Cerys is not in ... still not sure why) Tom and Cerys seem to be the favoured choice of the well cultured people in today's society.  If you haven’t bought the single yet, buy it now, or enter the BiCO competition.  The second part of the Birthday update is on it’s way, so keep your eye’s open.

Happy Birthday- 08/12/99

Today (December 8th) is Cerys World first birthday.  I can hardly believe it, has it been a year already?  In the first year online the page has had over 19,000 hits, 2 different servers, one major redesign, and an assortment of problems.  To celebrate Cerys World’s birthday I’ve arranged the biggest single update since it’s creation.  Over 30 images, new links, a competition, and others things like interviews and sounds to come over the next week or so.  ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ was released on Monday, and to celebrate this and Cerys World’s Birthday there’s a new competition go to the competitions page to find out more.

www.pop-music.net are running a BiCO Competition where you can win copies of the single.  Keep your eyes open around December 8th for Cerys World’s first birthday which should include a BiCO competition.

Music Of The Millenium - 21/11/99

As some of you may know Channel 4 showed the results of the biggest ever public voted music poll.  Even though most of it was utter clap-trap (imagine steps being sandwiched between Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd!), there was some good music in there.  Although you may think that Cerys and Catatonia didn’t get much of a mention don’t speak too soon.  Cerys was voted the 21st in the ‘Best Female Vocalist of the Millennium’ (that’s 1000 years you understand).  ‘International Velvet’ came 40th in the ‘Best Album’ chart and Catatonia came 48th in the ‘Best Band’ chart.  Not bad going considering.

This “It’s Only Rock n’ Roll” Business - 21/11/99

I’m not 100% sure what’s happened with Cerys’ appearance on the single.  She did record for it, as that was what Cerys a Kelly where doing in the same place at the same time for the Melody Maker interview.  However, she doesn’t appear to be featured on the video, or the song.  When I found out why, I’ll let you know.

Sinlge & Sore Throat - 09/11/99

The single entered 36th, hopefully it’ll climb for next week.  Also Cerys is still suffering from a sore throat, they’ve had to call off a Japanese Date.  She’s had it for over 2 weeks now, hopefully it’s nothing too serious.

Christmas Single - 07/11/99

The Cerys/Tom Jones song - ‘Baby it’s Cold Outside’ - is due to be released as a single on December 6th.  The Ray Charles & Betty Parker 1961 song, from Tom Jones’ new album ‘Reload’, is tipped as a contender for the Christmas number 1 spot.

Karaoke Queen - 04/11/99

As you all know, or at least you should do, Catatonia released Karaoke Queen on Monday.  Some people don’t like it - but it’s really growing on me I can’t stop humming the thing, which is a good thing I think.  It was released on CD, 3” CD and 7” Vinyl.  I’ve got both the CD’s (the 3” is so cute) but the shop where I usually get my vinyl from has closed down!  So I’m going to have to go into town before they sell out.  But anyway, the mid-weeks had it down as 37th (or something) but apparently there’s been a problem with that and it seems to be at least a little bit of an underestimate.

Europe is Not Enough! - 27/10/99

Good news for our descendants across the water, Catatonia are rumoured to be planning a US tour!  Hopefully not before they reschedule the cancelled UK tour.

‘It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll’ - 24/10/99

The millienium brings forth the making of another BBC charity, celeb-fest, single.  Along the lines of ‘Perfect Day’ an essemble of music greats will be teaming up for a re-working of the Rolling Stone song ‘It’s Only Rock ’n’ Roll’.  It is speculated that each artist will make an appearance in the same way as the ‘Perfect Day’ single - singing a few lines.  The lineup includes Cerys, Stereophonics, Annie Lennox, Robbin Williams, Natalie Imbruglia, Eric Idle, BB King and the fantastic Joe Cocker!

More Telly - 19/10/99

Some more Telly Dates for you, ‘TFI Friday’ 29th November and ‘Live & Kicking’ 30th November.

Shock, Horror!  Catatonia Not Breaking Up! - 13/10/99

Despite popular opinion - Catatonia are not breaking up, none of the band members are ill and the sky is not falling.  Never believe anything you ever read in the Tabloids, ever!  You should even be sceptical if you’re just looking at the pictures.  The band are still together and will stay together for the fore-seeable future.

Catatonia Cancel UK Arena Gigs - 11/10/99

Catatonia have called of ALL their UK tour gigs from December 5th onwards at Glasgow SECC, Doncaster Dome, Blackpool Empress Ballroom, London Docklands Arena and Cardiff International Arena.  After 22 months of ‘whirlwind success’ the guys have decided to take a respite and re-group.  So that can take time to prepare themselves for the gig so that they can give the best performance they possibly can.  They will more than likely start off from where they finished early next year.

Karaoke Queen Release Delayed - 11/10/99

The release of Karaoke Queen has been put back from October 25th to November 1st.  No news on the B sides yet, although the Video for it has begun to appear on VH1 and MTV (I haven’t seen it myself) It’s supposed to be very good.

Cerys on the Big Screen - 08/10/99

Cerys had appeared in a film made by a friend of hers - Sarah Sugarman - with a working title ‘Untitled Wales’.  ‘Hang-on’, I hear you say, ‘Cerys in a Movie?  But she said she wasn’t interested in acting.’.  Well, she only appeared in it for all of 2 seconds.  She’s also apparently involved in the soundtrack for the film, although her management aren’t sure what this entails yet.  Cerys has received several offers to appear in films in a staring role - Cerys has turned them all down - including offers for a film about selling ecstasy and a soft porn.

“Fanny & Elvis” - 07/10/99

Cerys is to perform a cover of Chris Montez’s  Classic “The More I See You” for “Fanny & Elvis” - a new film staring Ray Winston to be released on November 19th.  The soundtrack album will be released on November 22nd and will feature songs from the likes of Elvis and the Immortal Dusty Springfield.

Extract From Select - 07/10/99

In this months Select they asked Cerys - ‘Have You Ever … Wanted to go Solo?’;  “I think everybody in any band ever has contemplated going their own way, but I have no reason to think about it.  Why should I go solo when I have the best musicians and the best songwriters in the world by my side to argue with.  Politically, emotionally and practically we hate each other, but, on the musical level, somehow it works.  I would be a right twat if I left.”

Reading (Catatonia Rule) - 07/10/99

Here’s what a selection of people said to Q about the Reading festival;  ”... I’ve come to see Catatonia ...”, “... Catatonia a really good and she’s a top person... ” (Cerys I assume), “... Catatonia have been the best so far ...”.  All offering further evidence to the statement that Catatonia are “... The Best Band, Full Stop!”

Reloaded - 27/09/99

Tom Jones’ new album - ‘Reload’ - is released today, so go buy it!  I hope everyone managed to watch “An Audience With ...” on Saturday.  Cerys performed two cracking songs with ‘the sweaty one’ and even went as far as to do a ‘Charlie Dimmock’ for the rumoured Christmas smash contender  “Baby It’s Cold Outside”.

Cerys Does Telly - 14/09/99

Cerys is to star in a TV version of ‘Watership Down’ on ITV some time in the near future.  Stay tuned for more information.  Check Pop-Music.Net for a fuller story.

Cerys in Tom Jones Snog Shock! (Please Excuse Sun Style Headline) - 11/09/99

Shock and surprise as a picture appeared in this months SKY magazine of Cerys snogging good old Tom Jones!  Not just a plain ordinary niece/uncle type kiss, but a full-on lip bending smooch. Well perhaps not, but anyway I thought it worth a mention.  Click here to see the picture.

Charity Begins at Wembley? - 06/09/99

Catatonia are scheduled to perform at a charity concert in aid of the Kosovans on 9th October at Wembley Stadium.  The gig is to be web-cast so keep your eyes open for the URL here.

Reading & Leeds ‘99 - 06/09/99

As most of you probably know Catatonia performed at the Reading & Leeds festival (both venues!!) last weekend.  Both dotmusic and Pop-Music gave them an excellent review, so did Melody Maker for that matter.  Going as far to say that they are “... the best band, full stop!”.  NME apparently gave them a bad review, but I think you’ll all agree that the people at NME are a gaggle of uncultured cretins!

Tom Jones, Sex Outdoors & Karaoke Queen - 01/09/99

There’s a feature in this month's Q magazine about Tom Jones and his collaboration album.  It talks about the duet with Cerys of ‘Baby it’s Cold Outside’.  The album also features duets with Kelly Jones (Stereophonics), Robbie Williams, James Dean Bradfield (the Manic Street Preachers), Natalie Imbruglia, Bare Naked Ladies, Van Morrison to name but a few.  More than likely worth buying when it comes out.  On a different note, when asked “Have you ever ... had sex in a public place?” by Select magazine our Cerys replied “Yeah, but that doesn’t mean there were people around does it?  I think that’s another duty.  We should all do it.  It’s a positive thing, innit?  We should all have sex everywhere.”  My comments on the matter ... ‘Ooo-err!’.  And another note altogether Karaoke Queen is currently set for release on October 25th.

Some More Bits of News - 19/08/99

Karaoke Queen will be released sometime during September/October.  Catatonia enjoyed playing in Japan. So much that they've lined up a few gigs in early November.

The Eclipse - 06/08/99

Catatonia will be involved in an online chat as part of the Rockpalast Bizarre Festival on 21st August, more details to follow.  I’m going down to Devon to look at the eclipse next week.  I should be getting the .mpg of Cerys at party in the park at the weekend but I might not be able to upload it before I go away.  So if it’s not up on Sunday it probably wont be up until Thursday.

Next Single and the Notorious PitP- 03/08/99

Apparently the next single will be Karaoke Queen this time.  Release date to follow.   I’ve had several requests for vidcaps of the notorious ‘Tom Jones’ knickers incident that appeared on the Party in the Park this weekend.  Hopefully I will be able to get the clip on .mpg by the end of the week from one source or the other.  So keep an eye out for it in the Movies section.

Server Problems and What-Have-You - 02/08/99

You may have noticed that the page has had a few server problems for the last few days.  If you’re lucky enough to come along when it’s working don't worry, the page hasn’t been taken down.  The Proto-type of the new gallery is up, so have a look, see what you think.  The finished version should be up before I go to Devon to see the eclipse.  I hope you all managed to see Catatonia on ‘Party in the Park’ yesterday on Channel 4.  They were great for all of one song (DftWD) and great looked great, as usual, she was wearing a great dress and very nice knickers.

Some Things - 29/07/99

Some of you may have noticed that the page has had a little bit of a revamp over the past few weeks, the gallery is still old style but I hope to have the new version up in the next week or so depending on if I can figure out the bugs or not.  Also Catatonia will be appearing in the ‘Party in the Park’ to be shown on Channel 4 this Sunday (UK only).

Ohh, Dear - 24/07/99

Poor Londinium, only Number 20 and Now 45 in the Midweeks.  It looks like it will only be spending 1 week in the top 40.  It’s a shame really because the B sides kick ass.  If only the A side was more catchy then they could have captures a few thousand more fans easily.  Apparently it wasn’t the bands choice as a single, which just goes to show that management don’t know diddley squat.

On the Telly- 13/07/99

Catatonia are scheduled to appear on several shows this week to promote Londinium which was released on Monday. Thursday - 'Pepsi Chart' Channel 5. Saturday - 'CD:UK' ITV. There is also a possible appearance on 'Top of The Pops' next week.

Breakfast With Cerys (it rhymes if you're Welsh - ish)- 02/07/99

Cerys will be appearing on the Big Breakfast sometime next week.

Polled Again - 01/07/99

Cerys has been voted 42nd in Q magazines '100 Greatest Stars Of the 20th Century'.  Here's the blurb:

42 Cerys Matthews (A chin that could crush walnuts) After debut album Way Beyond Blue it seemed as though Catatonia's Cerys Matthews was destined for footnote-hood at best. Then the single Mulder & Scully rogered the zeitgeist. Follow-up Road Rage was nothing special as a song until the chorus, where she rolled her "r"s with a mix of lasciviousness and self-confessed Welshness. Add a war cry of "I haven't had a shag for ages"; a plasterer's ability to get plastered; the knack of scrubbing up nicely and some humdinging songs and, voila, a heroine for our times.

Recommended Album: Catatonia International Velvet (Blanco Y Negro, 1997). The joy of a band breaking through.

You said: "Because she is Celine Dion on Calpol." Chris Beebee, Castle Bromwich

Quizzing Cerys - 26/06/99

Adam Shutes (also known as 'Adam the Very Lucky') will be interviewing Cerys for his site 'Adams Catatonia Homepage'. Send your questions to askcerys@durandal.easynet.co.uk and check his page at the beginning of July to see if your question has been asked.

Sub-Aqua Londinium - 18/06/99

The video for Londinium is to be directed by the same person who did the DftWD video, Patricia Murphy. Rumour has it that the video will be set in an underwater club with the band playing (You'll never catch me taking my Fender down to the local baths).

Smash Hit - 17/06/99

Catatonia are appearing on the 'Smash Hits Poll Winners Party' this weekend. To be screened on Trouble (Cable and Satellite) on Saturday 5pm and Sunday 12noon.

Iconic Portraits - 15/06/99

An exhibition is currently running at the National Portrait Gallery on Charing Cross Road, London. The exhibition, entitled 'Icons of Pop - from Cliff to Cerys', is a history of the popular music photography over the last 40 years and includes pictures of Cerys. Entrance is free and the exhibit will stay open until September 6th.

Single - 10/06/99

Londinium is now scheduled for release on 12th July (supposedly).

The Results are In - 01/06/99

The results of the FHM's annual '100 Sexiest Women in the World' poll Cerys comes in a very respectable 36th. Beating the likes of Samantha Janus, Billie, Liv Tyler and Jeri Ryan. (Gillian Anderson got placed 15th which is very cool too)

Londinium - 29/05/99

Londinium is apparently scheduled for release on June 21st. Knowing Catatonia's management however this could change.

Quick Change - 19/05/99

The next single has changed from Karaoke Queen to Londinium. In my opinion both tracks have about the same quality, but if anything Karaoke Queen would have been a better song for the 'pop charts'. Dead from the Waist down exited the top 40 this week, it's now sitting at number 41.

Karaoke Queen - 12/05/99

As some of you may or may not know, Catatonia’s next single is to be ‘Karaoke Queen’.  Some people have let it be known that they think that this isn’t a song that should be picked for a single because it’s too ‘poppy’.  The truth is however, that that is exactly why it should be released.  Hopefully It will gain the same ‘Anthemic’ status of ‘Mulder and Scully’ and ‘Road Rage’.  News on release date to follow.

Five Night Stand - 11/05/99

For those of you who have Cable, Satellite or Digital.  Catatonia are going to be on MTV’s five night stand (which they recorded yesterday).  You can see it on ‘MTV’ on Tuesday 18th May, at 11.00am and 7.00pm.

Q for Cerys - 28/04/99

Cerys will be on the cover (and obviously inside the cover aswell) of the June issue of Q magazine.  Available on May 1st and not the one with Sharleen Spiteri on the cover.

Romantic Interests - 25/04/99

Rumours are abound that Cerys is currently romantically involved with Tommy D. (Catatonia’s Producer).  Information sketchy at the moment (Tabloid newspapers aren’t renowned for their accuracy).

New Woman - 22/04/99

Cerys is in this months 'New Woman' magazine (never have so many young men bought a womens magazine).  ECaB did go in at #1 on Sunday DftWD shifted up slightly to 15.

Single Disappointment - 18/04/99

Sadly DftWD slipped from 7 down to 17 last week. ECaB went straight in at number 1 in the mid week charts.  Cerys performed Bulimic Beats on TFI last week, wearing a lovely dress and Catatonia will be performing on Jools Holland on the 23rd (Friday).

Gallery Overhaul - 08/04/99

I’ve spent about 2 hours revamping the image library.  Some of the images have been re-scanned and/or enhanced using some good Corel Photo-Paint filters, all to increase your viewing pleasure.  Don’t forget that It’s Cerys’ birthday on Sunday and the Album is out on Monday.

HMoM, etc... - 06/04/99

For some reason Hit Miss or Maybe is not being repeated this week.  I believe it may be repeated sometime next week.  For those of you who didn’t manage to catch L&K it’s well worth a watch.  DFtWD entered the chart at number 7 doing fairly well for itself considering the number of new releases.

FHM and More - 01/04/99

With DftWD cruising to number 7 in the mid week chart after being released on Monday, Catatonia booked to support both 'REM' and the 'Stones in concert', Cerys appearing on the cover of FHM this month, plus a plethora of TV appearances scheduled in the near future.  Things are looking better and better all the time for Cerys and the guys.

DftWD - 25/03/99

As far as I can tell 'DftWD' is still due for release on Monday 29th (In the UK at least).  Which incidentally is the same day that the 'X-Files Movie'' is released (This has nothing to do with Cerys except that Gillian Anderson is the second of my two favourite women, and it's my page so I'll do what I like)

Cerys Going Glossy? - 15/03/99

Sources say that Cerys is to appear in the next issue (issue 112) of British mens magazine 'FHM'.  Cerys has said that she was open to the possibility of appearing in such a magazine, as long as they paid enough.  Well she's started with the biggest one.  Needles to say, the pictures, and possibly the interview, will be up as soon as I get them.

Them fools!  They definitely managed to fool some people into thinking it was true!  Just goes to show that you should never believe a Radio 1 DJ.

Cerys to Marry?!? - 16/02/99

This is an, a yet, unconfirmed rumour.  Cerys Matthews is apparently engaged to Mark Riley (aka 'The Boy Lard').  I have some doubt as to the source of this information.  Confirmation to follow.

More News on Jools Holland - 12/12/98

The new years eve edition of Later has been recorded and it is confirmed that Cerys does get to sing with welsh co-wailer Tom Jones.  A wonderful duet of 'Baby it's cold outside'.

Cerys in SKY Magazine - 10/12/98

Cerys is in Sky magazine this month (January 99 issue).  She wins Sky magazine's Lungs of the year award (was there any doubt?).  There is a several page spread with some good pictures and one of the best interviews she has done to date.  I recommend you but it; it's bound to become collectable.
